Short sighted decisions

Short term solutions

When you have a pressing problem which needs fixing it can be very tempting to implement a short term solution. In many cases this may well be the most efficient and appropriate solution, however it may not. Any solution will require resources i.e. people, money, time. It may be that just by pausing briefly, taking a step back and boldly examining all the options it is possible to design and implement a far more advantageous solution.

Fitting solutions around specific problems rather than business aims

Sometimes we find that managers seek to change systems to workaround, or avoid, personality or role blockages.  In our experience this tends to only paper over the cracks and does not achieve the aims.  Sometimes an organisation does not recognise the true implications and, ultimately, the costs of ‘safe’ thinking.
